Classes & Workshops
You will learn the basics of a very common micro-controller – the Arduino Uno. No prior experience or knowledge of micro-controllers or electronics required. You will use this kit in the workshop and get to take it with you.
|Intro to Designing for 3D Printing|
|Intro to Laser Cutting and Etching
MakerFX is home to a professional-class Epilog Legend 36EXT 50 watt laser engraver, which engraves and cuts acrylic, wood, paper, and much more. We also have the rotary tool which is great for engraving glasses or stainless steel tumblers. Learn how to use this very powerful machine and see it in action.
|Intro to CNC Routing
MakerFX is home to an Instructables X-Carve CNC router that can cut woods (both hard and soft), various plastics and non-ferrous metals like aluminum, copper and brass. Learn how to use this very powerful machine and see it in action.
A series of electronics workshops that cover the basics of electronics. In these first two parts, we’ll recap electronics basics and how to analyze circuits, then discuss passive and basic semiconductor components, including how to properly work with LEDs. The remaining two parts will cover and work with transistors and FETs, then learn about linear and switching power-supplies.
|Intro to Vinyl Cutting
In this workshop we will cover a number of topics to get you understanding the Vinyl cutter at MFX. We will review the VinylMaster software. Go over creating a traditional vinyl including transfer tape. And finally use heat transfer vinyl to create a custom shirt.
|Making 3D-Printed Fidget Spinners|
|Combat Robot Workshop
In this workshop, Nasir from Team Toxic Robotics will help you build your first combat robot. You will learn the different designs of effective weapon types and the different weight classes. You will also be shown different sources to find parts and learn more about the sport of combat robotics. Nasir will also share the combat robot events that are hosted in Florida and around the US.
Learn how to pick locks, see demonstrations, and join the locksport community! The mission of the Open Organization Of Lockpickers is to advance the general public knowledge about locks and lockpicking. By examining locks, safes, and other such hardware and by publicly discussing our findings we hope to strip away the mystery with which so many of these products are imbued.
|Intro to PCB Layout with Eagle
In this class you’ll learn to use the popular and free/maker edition of EAGLE PCB CAD to capture the circuit diagram, layout and route the PC board, then generate universal gerber files so you can use any of several board houses to get your boards made.
Members are developing additional classes that will be available at MakerFX. The classes and workshops are under development. Join the MakerFX Meetup to receive notifications when they are available.

|Intro to Raspberry Pi
Pi-top is a modular laptop based on the Raspberry Pi that is the perfect tool to help you start learning how to code, create awesome devices, and take your knowledge to the next level.
|Intro to Simplify3D for 3D Printing
3D printing slicing software controls every aspect of your 3D print. It translates 3D models into instructions your printer understands. Better instructions mean better prints, so a simple software upgrade makes all the difference in the world. Learn how to use Simplify3D and improve the quality of your 3D printing.
