Intro to Designing for 3D Printing

Learn the basics of 3D printing from our instructor, including some simple 3D modeling in Tinkercad and 3D printing on 3D printer. Time dependent, we will print your object during the class. Bring your own laptop or use one of our Chromebooks to access Tinkercad.

Tinkercad is a simple, online 3D design and 3D printing app for everyone. Tinkercad is used by designers, hobbyists, teachers, and kids, to make toys, prototypes, home decor, Minecraft models, jewelry – the list is truly endless!

No design experience required. You don’t need to know CAD to make and 3D print awesome 3D models. The instructor will walk each student through the process of designing a keychain name tag which will allow you to learn the basics of Tinkercad.

The instructor will then walk you through the process to take a design model through the process called slicing to actually print on a 3D printer. MakerFX has a variety of 3D printers available including DeltaMaker 3D printers which are made here in Orlando about 15 minutes from MakerFX.

Please visit our calendar or our meetup group to see the workshop schedule, and to RSVP for a workshop. If you would like to request a specific workshop, or have specific questions, email us at info@makerfx.org

If you are interested in learning more, you don’t have to wait for a class. Stop by on a Friday night for Open Make, and see the laser, 3D printers, Duinokit, X-Carve, etc.
